The Beauchamp Factor
The Scott Thomas Beauchamp controversy continues. I requested all releasable information from Major Luke Luedeke over at Camp Falcon, the camp where Pvt. Thomas is stationed. Currently, the private is unavailable for comment pending an investigation.
Fox News once again shows that it is about as fair and balanced as J. Jonah Jameson is with Spider-Man - and almost as fictional.
Instead of posting this supermarket tabloid wanna-be crap that Fox News pumps out, why don't you act like a real journalist for once and actually try to discredit this Scott Thomas person with real investigative journalism.
Malkin asking for a psychological profile from documentary film maker? Oh they've been poking holes into Scott's story, but they couldn't waste valuable airtime with a single corroborated example. And Malkin, of course, is not saying there isn't any atrocities in war-time but she can't waste her time to say that while the two supposed "experts in editorialized opinions" are trying to link Scott Thomas' stories to Dan Rather's blunder while Malkin weaves her own bullshit by claiming that Scott "weaved" his stories and that leading the conversation in directions her "experts" aren't going on their own.
Intellectually pathetic and nothing short of socially parasitic. About par for the course from the conservative side, wouldn't you agree?
Did you honestly think having an American flag behind your picture was going to save you from any kind of journalistic scrutiny?

The most amusing part is that J.D. presents the case as, "if I didn't catch it on my documentary, it didn't happen", as if soldiers are not compelled or instructed to be on best behavior so as to not embarrass the military or themselves on camera.
All of these people are trying to discredit him, poke holes in this story, why? It's strange because he's the one serving in Iraq, he's the one that is not on the sidelines pontificating, but actually fighting, he's the one seeing these things first hand. Malkin's first instinct seems to be, the guy is making it up, the guy wants attention, etc.
Please, let's try to encourage more of your own insights and less of Malkin's less than savory presence.

It's not representative of the troops? Mr. Johansen needs to watch these clips:

Right now, PV2 Scott Thomas Beauchamp is in the middle of an Article 15-6 investigation. If his allegations are true, then he's a dirtbag who demeans disfigured women, tolerates the desecration of human remains and thinks that running over dogs is funny. If his allegations are false, he's a walking honor code violation. Either way, I'm not impressed. Nobody on my tour did the kinds of things that he's claiming.

Amusing- Spare us the "infallibility" card!
Zenrage- Michelle Malkin is an excellent journalist and she is asking all the right questions in the interview posted. Thomas' allegations don't have the ring of truth about them, and anyone who has spent time in or around the military knew this from the start. I also like what Malkin says in the interview about how the MSM doesn't publish stories about the military's heroism but is quick to publish anything derogatory about them. . .even things that are completely made up.

Zenrage...Scott has been stationed in Germany for a few years, I have to wonder if he even went to Iraq since his own blog he states that he's waiting to be deployed.
This is in 2006...by 2007 he's still in Germany posting garbage about his military experience and rambling on.
I have a feeling Scott Thomas has all along wanted to be famous for his writing, journalist type of reporting and it wouldn't have happened if he didn't know someone on the inside at the Magazine that printed his story...one catch it had to draw a negative picture of a soldier in Iraq.
