"Because They Don't Shoot At Us"
Dora is a dangerous neighborhood. Due, in part to the "surge", 1st Squadron 4th Cavalry, of Fort Riley Kansas, increased their presence in this small area. Soldiers talk to Iraqis on a daily basis and form relations. These personal relations between Iraqis and the American military may just be the least reported aspect of the war.
Children get to the point really fast. So, I like to ask them direct questions, because they'll usually give disarmingly honest answers.
It's an honor to cover the men and women here in Iraq, they are truly the best our country has to offer. I really thank all those who have supported me so far, I could not have done it without you.
I promise to keep bringing you the stories, images and details you won't find in the mainstream media, I also promise to bring you the voices of those you hear the least--the troops here on the ground.
Thanks for listening and I appreciate all the mail.
Keep those comments coming and take the polls!
Sincerely,
Matt Sanchez

Wait, No! This can't be right! As I am told constantly by the MSM, American troops murder young children and eat babies!
Oh! I know... clearly that child was being held at gun point by the America troops... Yes, this must be it - just look at the fear in his young face!

I know several buddies who are deployed in Sadr City and they say the media is totally lieing. Their is NOT, repeat is NOT excessive violence or killings in these areas. The Surge reduced violence by more than 59% last month. The citywide water treatment plant is almost completed and people currently get electic power at least 9-11 hours a day. These guys also tell my that contrary to what the liberal media portrays, the outdoor markets are thriving and relatively safe (ie a Westerner could shop there without special military escorts). Folks, peace is thriving in Iraq, but you would never know that from the MSM reports. We have got to support fair and balanced professional journalists like Matt Sanchez.

Interesting that you report this only to complain that other's aren't reporting it. That makes no sense. Can't Republicans just do their jobs without complaining about something? You're covering it. It's covered. The fact that you are unable to locate coverage elsewhere is really YOUR problem.

I love this child. He reminds me of a boy I have in my classroom whose father was in Saddam Hussein's army, but fled of course.
We have the picture of this boy's grandparents on our "I Love My Family" wall. So stoic. His grandfather with the headscarf (I can't remember the proper term.) His grandmother properly veiled. There's a young woman between. He doesn't know who she is. I wonder what happened to her.
Thank you for posting this video. It's very moving and not at all a surprise. Not to me.
