Sheik Sattar Assasinated!
Update: Sheik Sattar was just killed by an enormous explosion that was felt on Camp Ramadi more than a mile away.
I just finished interviewing one of Iraq's most fascinating people, Sheik Abdul Sattar al-Rishawi, the man accredited with starting the Anbar Awakening. I'll print the interview in depth shortly, but a small introduction is in order.
Sheik Sattar is one of the few real sheiks in a country that currently has a lot of wannabe sheiks. An Anbari born and breed, Sheik Sattar lost his father and three brothers when al Qaeda pulled into town.
Charismatic, determined and very ambitious we may see a lot more of Sheik Sattar in the near future, his role in the Awakening could make Ramadi the next Gettysburg.

That is terrible news about Sheik Sattar.
It shows that Al Qaida is getting very desperate because they know we are winning in Iraq, and they know the advantage we have in the War on Terror with our military staying in the Middle East.
This is why it is so important for us to have a military presence in Iraq and the Middle East for many years to come, just as we have stayed in South Korea and Japan. Of couse, liberals want us to pull out in order to hand Al Qaeda and our enemies a propaganda victory.

Now we will see a lot more of the spirit of this brave man in the future. His murder will inspire others to step up and commit to removing the evil in their midst.

What a hero for the Iraqi people.
It is so revealing of Leftists that they celebrate his death, but they scorned the death of Zarqawi.
Al Qaeda continues to make the same mistakes it has always done. It was the assassination of a Sunni Sheik that started the tribal rebellion against them.
Al-Rishawi was a member of the largest Sunni tribe in Al Anbar. They have sworn revenge against Al Qaeda. Typically the media would highlight such vows by the Sunnis, but not when they are made by pro-American Sunnis. Although the media relishes on focusing about how US troops may create a backlash because of their anti-terrorist operations, they loath to print that Al Qaeda's terrorist operations have a much worse backlash.
Last spring Al Qaeda thugs left an ice cooler filled with the heads of the children of slain sheikhs in front of the main hospital at Ramadi. It inspired the tribes to fight back, just like they are doing now.
