Berkeley Secedes from the Union--Declares Marines the Enemy

It's war between Code Pink protesters and the pro-troops organization, Move America Forward, after the Berkeley city council declared the Marine Corps to be "unwelcome intruders".

"I believe in the Code Pink cause. The Marines don't belong here, they shouldn't have come here, and they should leave," said Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates.

“It is disgraceful that in the birthplace of the Free Speech Movement, anti-military activists would attempt to silence the same military men and women who serve this country and give their lives to protect the free speech rights of all Americans, including these ungrateful and despicable people on the Berkeley City Council,” said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.

In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.


Still no word as to why the Marine Corps, of all services, has been singled out, but it's nice to know the people of Berkeley would consider Marines a bigger threat.

Did you get my e-mail about this? I shall say no more (in public, that is), except that I am very upset about this. Let's strip them of their money! Yes, let us take all of their money! Then we'll find out just how important code pink really is to them...but there is a bright side to this (if you can call it that). At least now al Qaida will know where to go to live. Oowie, pwetoi!

I think that the Marines are the only service with a recruiting office in Berkeley. They probably figured they can get good recruits there - any young person willing to swim against the Berkeley cultural tide and join the Marines has already demonstrated considerable strength of character.

Berkeley city council and code pink would be the first to whine and BEG for help from the Marines if they were attacked by terrorists. I think the Marines should sue the city council for discrimination against them by supporting terrorists (code pink members) who were given their parking spaces. It's at times like this that I wish California would fall off into the ocean. Except out of the 48 people I know in or from California, at least 2 of them are nice people. Let's cut them out of the U.S. and let them annex with Mexico!!!!!
