Hollywood and Iraq
With films like Redacted drawing fire for being more political than realistic, many have asked when will someone in Hollywood give the viewing audience a taste of what it's really like in Iraq? I just got to see a preview of Pat Dollard's series, Young Americans.
I'll write extensively on our interview, but just keep in mind, be careful what you wish for. Dollard succeeds where the pretenders have failed, since Pat spent time in the most dangerous city in the world, Ramadi.
This is the Ramadi I saw and experienced. A much quieter place, but there was always the specter of violence. The residents remembered the old days when al Qaida declared the city the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iraq. It's only because of the Marines Pat Dollard captured in Young Americans that Lt. Duffy could even consider taking his body armor off.
Outstanding, soldiers!
Nice, invaluable work Pat Dollard's doing, too.

Pat's "baby" is finally catching fire ... and it's nice to see Matt fanning the flames!

Redacted et al. have, fortunately, been received by the marketplace with the contempt they deserve. Their receipts hardly cover the coffee and snack expenses of the directors, much less the cast. It'll probably take YA a week or two to exceed their total take, and go on to multiples and orders of magnitude better results.
Let the Buzz Begin!
